I have no way to communicate with Earth.
I'm in a Habitat designed to last 31 days.
If the Oxygenator breaks down, I'll suffocate. If the Water Reclaimer breaks down, I'll die of thirst. If the Hab breaches, I'll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I'll eventually run out of food and starve to death.
So yeah. I'm screwed.

Ciència ficció amb gran dosi de comèdia, ben trenada i -ni que sigui per un cop- bastant curosa a nivell científic. Evidentment hi ha ficció, però la part de ciència que «controlem actualment» no s'exagera, ni es porta a l'extrem i es fonamenta de forma prou digna. Un molt bon entreteniment, que et fa riure molt i et captura des del moment inicial.
I started this book on the subway home from work, continued reading over dinner, and finished it that night in bed. It's griping, the science is solid, and it's about as close to "hard sci-fi" as you can get. The movie is also quite enjoyable.

Really intriguing tech short story. Read it twice.
Man, what a blast. I read a description that this book was heaven for people who wished that Apollo 13 was entirely that bit where they go "well we have to connect this to that and flip this, and then...", and that's the best description I have. But it's also funny, entertaining, suspenseful, and even heartwarming. Good job, Andy Weir. Movie, here I come.
Yes, this is every bit as good as your geeky friends say that it is. Absorbing, entertaining, and anchored by its authenticity and technical accuracy.
