What a delightful book. I'm enjoying this more than anything I've read this year I think. Splendid Speckled Mosscap Is such a great character, and the slow paced, almost meditative quality of the text is a balm for the reader. I hope it ends as it's begun.

A health services researcher and educator from Sydney, Australia. I like imaginative fiction and a smattering of non-fiction, and I have a genuinely shameful number of unread books in my to-read pile. I'm also on Mastodon.

Humour, anger, and human connection

A beautifully-written short novel that somehow manages to balance a bleak picture of a flooded earth where only the garage patch survives with hope and connection? Catherynne Valente is an incredible writer.
