Review of "The Bone Doll's Twin" on 'Goodreads'

So when you are sick of modern day top notch low quality fantasy books, that are all mainstream and repetitive and boring, you do what a girl got to do and you go back to read old fantasy titles.
When I first joined goodreads "The Bone Doll's Twin" was one of the first books recommended to me. I started the beginning but could not really get into it and put it aside, that was like 8 years ago.I never could get it out of my head. The idea of the book triggered me so hard that I came back to it finally.

Pro:
Actual interesting question and things to think about
Cool magic
Nice old school aesthetic
Good horror
Loved the characters and the dynamics

Contra:
Sloooooooow
Not much happens at all, and at some point there is a huge break in the story
Ending of the first book is disappointing

And although it is quite nice, it will take a while until I continue. I wanted more, but now I am pissed that the first book did not get farther.
