@anathema I loved this book! So many really good characters, all complicated and wonderful.

Ell quoted Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire (Wayward Children, #5)
Jack laughed. It wasn't a happy sound, not exactly; it was the sound of someone clinging to the last vestiges of sanity and stability with all their might. It was the sound of slipping.

Content warning early plot spoilers (ch. 2), minor series context spoilers
Barely three chapters in and I'm once again crying about my fave trans kid. Context: a former student shows up in the wrong body (like, literal body swap situation) and is a wreck, Kade is called in to help.
So before anything, he runs upstairs to his wardrobe - he doesn't know how to get her in the right body yet, but he does know how to get her into a waistcoat instead of the dress that is extremely not her, so that's priority one.
Because if anyone knows how important clothes are to feeling yourself when everything else feels wrong it's Kade. There's a reason he made it his job to make sure every student has clothes that fit them, inside and out. I love this kid so much 😭
Ell quoted Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire (Wayward Children, #5)
Clothes matter. Clothes are part of how you learn to feel like yourself, and not someone who just happens to look like you.
