HBR Guide to Better Business Writing (2013) 5 stars

Anyone who writes for their job should read this

5 stars

This book is one of the most useful and approachable guides I have ever come across. It is clear and efficient in making its points. The value from this book is immense, especially compared to the time required to read it.

I have started implementing some of the advice in this book, and it has improved my writing enjoyment and output. I highly recommend it!

Animal Liberation (EBook, Harpercollins) 5 stars

Since its original publication in 1975, this groundbreaking work has awakened millions of concerned men …

Logical Argumentation and Analysis of Speciesism

5 stars

Singer demonstrates his ability to construct logical arguments brilliantly. He relies mostly on arguing for moral consistency, and manages to do so flawlessly.

I recommend anyone to read this book. I found it to profoundly change my perspective on animal ethics and "speciesism", as Singer calls it.

How to Become a Straight-A Student (2006, Broadway) 3 stars

Brief but actionable handbook

5 stars

The book is divided into three sections: Fundamentals, Exam preparation, and paper writing. All sections give a satisfactory overview of the processes proposed by Newport. From applying the advice in this book, I managed to improve my grades.

A lot of things in the book might be perceived as common sense. But common sense does not equal common practice. Therefore I think even obvious advice, such as "study in isolation" or "block out time to work on things", deserve to be in the book.

If you are looking for a writing guide, or specific memorization techniques, this book is not for you. In all areas it presents structures to follow. Still, if you adapt the presented info to your situation, I think the book holds a lot of value
