I think this book suffered from my reading it directly after Ancestors. It felt like it covered a lot of the same ground and didn't have quite the same spark.
Still, it was an enjoyable read and I enjoyed the insight into time team and changes in approaches to burial.
So this was a great read. I didn't really have any expectations going into this and was pleasantly surprised by how accessible and compelling it was.
While I'm vaguely aware of what's involved, it was interesting to hear the process and how many disciplines are involved in putting together pieces of the past. Feels like being a forensic detective trying to solve a crime but, like, many thousands of years ago.
I think I will ensure I'm buried with some randomly selected grave goods so they'll have to find this review to explain why.

I agree with another review here that this book should have a different title / tagline. I would not have picked it up except it was recommended to me.
A high level review of why we should be interested in our healthspan, not our lifespan. Plenty of "common sense but commonly ignored" things that you should consider, the earlier the better.
We should not expect to abuse and fail to maintain our bodies for 40 years and then rely on medicine to "fix" it.
I found this more useful than most self-help books - it aims to challenge and change your mindset.
Every time I read a book with a US centric viewpoint which mentions the yearly MOT people have with their MD, I wonder why we don't have that here.
